New Jersey Mediation Attorneys
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution that can be used to resolve virtually any type of family law matter. We are proponents of mediation as it is a relatively efficient, cost-conscious and amicable method for reaching divorce settlement agreements. There are many benefits to resolving disputes and reaching settlement agreements through mediation. The law firm of Gomperts, Braun & McDermott, LLC can discuss your particular situation and determine if mediation is right for you.

Experienced lawyers offering mediation services and representation
Our attorneys have extensive experience providing mediation services and representing clients in mediation. Judi McDermott received mediation training from the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Gerri Gomperts is routinely appointed by the court as a mediator and also sits on the Early Settlement Panel. Our firm encourages people to seek resolution through mediation because of its many benefits such as the following:
- Mediation is a less adversarial process.
- Mediation is less expensive than litigation.
- Mediation fosters amicable relationships between parties, a factor that is good for co-parenting and issues affecting the children.
- Mediation can result in effective divorce settlement agreements that provide for each issue such as child custody, alimony and equitable distribution.
About the Early Settlement Panel
The Early Settlement Panel handles the financial issues of divorce such as alimony, property division and child support. Each party and his or her attorney presents their issues before the panel. The panel makes recommendations for settlement. The parties can agree to these recommendations or proceed toward trial.
While mediation is a powerful tool for achieving results, it is not the right tool for every job. To handle those cases where mediation is not appropriate, the attorneys of Gomperts, Braun & McDermott, LLC are skilled litigators who do proceed toward trial when all other options have been exhausted.
